THE cast of Jack and the Beanstalk hope to wow audiences in Biggar this weekend.

Produced by the Biggar Theatre Workshop, Jack, played by Hannah Wade, will show just how far a bag of beans will go.

The well-known panto production will see the family cow, Buttercup, sold off by Jack for a bag of beans.

But anger by mum (played by Tim Wilcock), turns to shock when she wakes the following day to discover a huge, magical beanstalk in the back garden.

Director Shirley Craig told the Peeblesshire News: “Panto is a Christmas highlight at the Corn Exchange.

“It’s been challenging getting a beanstalk to grow, but we’ve been keeping it well watered, and the results are going to be impressive.

“With amazing special effects, fantastic panto characters, and all the thigh-slapping adventure, laughs, songs and dancing you could want, this is a family must see.”

The show starts at 7.30pm tonight (Friday, December 8) with another performance at the same time tomorrow in the Biggar Corn Exchange.

Tickets are £10 for adults and £8 for under 16s.
