This week, Bernard Airlie from the Biggar Ramblers club, brings us the latest on the group's recent countryside walks.

The first walk of 2018 by Biggar Ramblers was a short five mile ramble near Coulter.

The first section, up Culter Water through woodland, was delightful and there was a sighting of a grey squirrel sprinting across the burn on a fallen tree.

Next the Group walked up towards the TV mast, past Unthank Farm and across the A702 at Nether Hangingshaw, returning to Coulter along pretty winding lanes. By this time the sun had come out and the snow glistened on the surrounding hills.

There were 13 walkers (including a visitor from California) in the Group, which was led by Bernard Airlie.
