A PEEBLESSHIRE social enterprise has become the first in the country to establish an official partnership with the University of Edinburgh business school.

You Can Cook has helped transform diets across the region whilst promoting an eat-healthy, live-healthy lifestyle.

As part of their new partnership, the organisation will host business students from the capital to help teach the principles of their work.

In a statement from You Can Cook, a spokesperson told us: “You Can Cook was honoured to be selected as the first social enterprise in Scotland to be part of the course work for students attending the business school at Edinburgh University.

“The students visited our growing and cookery projects in Innerleithen and Walkerburn while learning about our ethos and interviewing staff, volunteers and participants to better understand the positive impact created by You Can Cook in the local community.”

In addition to the above outcomes, the university believes that these projects can help students to grow and nurture an interest in getting involved in social enterprise after graduation.

As part of the partnership, the first wave of students from Edinburgh University compiled an 11 minute video and a formal presentation as part of their work.

And they were full of praise for You Can Cook after their research was complete.

A spokesperson said: "It was very refreshing to see an organization work with such passion and dedication to help support and empower communities across Scotland.

“We hope other organizations follow the example set by You Can Cook in delivering positive change that has a lasting impact”.

You Can Cook has gone from strength to strength since its establishment, winning awards and praise alike.

The organisation celebrated its tenth birthday last year.
