WALKERBURN has unveiled its 2018 principals ahead of their summer festival.

Community members gathered at the coffee morning and table top sale at the village hall on Saturday for the big reveal.

Keith Belleville, headteacher of Walkerburn Primary had the honour of naming Tiegan Hunter as this year's Festival Lass, before announcing Kayla Amos as the Essay prizewinner for 2018.

Both girls are both P7 pupils from Walkerburn Primary School.

Martha Gibson, organiser of the Walkerburn Summer Festival told us: "Congratulations to both Tiegan and Kayla who will be representing the village this year.

"I'd also like to express my thanks to everyone who was involved with the coffee morning and table top sale.

"Preparations are currently underway ahead of next month's week-long festival, and I hope that everyone will have a hugely enjoyable time."

A packed programme of events, which includes a scavenger hunt, fancy dress parade, plus a fun day, will take place between Sunday, June 24 and Saturday, June 30.
