SCOTTISH Power have apologised after two Peeblesshire towns experienced a number of outages last weekend.

The issues, which lasted from a few seconds, to a few minutes at most, affected a number of residents in Innerleithen and Walkerburn.

A Scottish Power spokesperson said: "We had three minor network trips over the weekend and our engineers have attended the relevant section of the power line on Monday (July 2).

"We’ve replaced and upgraded a piece of equipment found to be faulty and will continue to monitor the network performance going forward.

"We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

In January, the Peeblesshire News revealed that Innerleithen was hit by a number of power cuts in the space of a few days.

And last year Scottish Power told us that a fault was triggering the supply to be cut off when anything came into contact with sections of the overhead lines running down the Tweed valley.
