TOMORROW evening the highly talented and encouragingly original Nevis Ensemble are escaping the crowds of Glasgow to perform on a farm in Peeblesshire.

And it's free.

Nevis Ensemble believe in music for everyone, everywhere.

And as part of the 2018 European Championships being held in Glasgow, these amazing musicians are departing the urban sprawl and travel to Whitmuir to fulfil their ambition to bring live classical music to everyone, anywhere, even a farm!

The ensemble will be playing a repertoire involving excerpts from Stravinsky’s Firebird and Wagner’s Die Walküre, Bartók’s Romanian Dances, Sibelius’ Waltz Triste, Judith Weir’s Still, Glowing and Neil Smith’s Cyched, as well as pop and jazz arrangements, some rip-roaring ceilidh music, and perhaps even a bit of Proclaimers as well.

The free concert is on the Wednesday (August 8) from 6pm to 8pm.

Heather Anderson from Whitmuir told us: "This is a free concert on a farm - not something that happens everyday - and everyone will be very welcome. "We have parking, a farmshop and cafe and we will be running a BBQ on the evening - so come and get your tea and enjoy some amazing musi."

Whitmuir is on the A701, 4 miles south of the Leadburn junction - post code EH46 7BB
