On Saturday, August 18, our walk took the ramblers to Leadhills, Hunt Law, Wanlock Dod to Sowen Dod and Glendorch Rig, lasting nine miles.

The four walkers including the walk leader meet at the Leadhills School car park for 10am.

They then ascended steep rough heather ground to reach a game keepers track on Hunt Law at 510mt, now they were shrouded in heavy mist with the wind blowing the rain horizontally into their faces.

Apart from the weather the walking was a little easy along the track as they headed for the ascent up to Wanlock Dod at 532 mt, but before this at a path which would lead them back down to Leadhills the walk leader asked if everyone was happy to continue which they were, but the leader who lives in the area and knows the paths very well agreed that they would continue up to Wanlock Dod but because visibility was still very poor and although their waterproof clothing keep them dry underneath they were soaked so decided to come down off the hills.

On reaching the village of Wanlockhead they were clear of the mist the wind had dropped and the rain had eased a little and they found a sheltered place for lunch and because the walk had been cut short the walk leader lead them a different way back, up to the reservoir and dam beneath the Radar Station then past the highest golf course in Scotland and back into the car park.

The walk had been shortened to just over 6 miles and believe it or not they all agreed it was a good walk.
