PEEBLES High Street was filled with the sound of music on Saturday, September 1 as the annual busking competition attracted singers, ukulele players, and musical families.

With prizes sponsored and presented by of the Royal Burgh of Peebles Callants Club, the busking competition is one of the highlights of the outdoor programme of Creative Peebles Festival, now in its third year.

The first prize for the seniors was awarded to Tweed Valley Male Voices who sang magnificent harmonies just inside the gates of the Saint Andrews Leckie Parish Church.

The junior first prize, and the overall trophy, was won by Maisie Esposito (pseudonym Girl Guide Rocks), who played a whole range of well-known tunes on her Tenor Horn.

Callants Club members Hendry White and David Robb judged the competition and the prizes were presented by Chief Callant Andrew Williamson.

All the donations made are given to charities nominated by the individual musicians.
