GALASHIELS Accordion & Fiddle Club is tuning up ahead of another exciting winter season beginning this week.

After the summer break, with cooler days and the nights drawing in, the club plans to get the feet tapping on Thursday with the Susan MacFadyen Trio headlining.

As well Susan on accordion, her sister Shona plays fiddle and Kieran Johnstone will be on drums.

Susan has been playing the accordion since the age of 14, taking lessons from Ian Muir of Prestwick.

She went on to win many solo accordion competitions over the years, including titles at the All Scotland Accordion Championships and The National Association Of Accordion & Fiddle Clubs Musselburgh Festival.

And the success has continued this year, winning the Highlands & Islands Music and Dance Festival Accordion Masters Invitational competition.

Susan has also performed on BBC Radio Scotland's Take The Floor programme on numerous occasions with her own band as well as guesting with others.

As well as the Susan MacFadyen Trio, several other guest accordion and fiddle players will be in attendance for the opening night of the Galashiels Accordion & Fiddle Club!

The opening night takes place in the Gala YM Rugby Clubrooms on Thursday (October 4) at 7.30pm.

Admission for non-players is £5, with players admitted free.
