A NEW monthly Borders blues club has hit the high notes following a successful launch last week.

Launched by Paul Burnett, lead singer with local band Unfinished Business, the Borders Blues Club’s inaugural night took place on October 5 at the Vale Club Innerleithen.

Showcasing two blues groups, the club hosted performances from Glasgow band Used Blues and Newcastle native Robbie Reay.

The club has been launched in collaboration with The Vale Club Innerleithen, with support from The Falkirk and Stirling Blues Club, and aims to promote accessible and affordable blues music.

Tickets for the club nights are £5 and the events are being run on a not-for-profit basis, with all proceeds from ticket sales going directly to the artists.

The club will run on the first Friday of every month and each show will feature two quality blues acts.

The next event will take place on November 2 and will feature performances from The Blue Hyenas as well as Reece Hillis and John Boos.
