FOOTBALL fans have been urged to pay tribute to a tragic young Glasgow man who passed away suddenly after securing his dream job.
It's understood Gordon Roberts, known as Gordy, died on Saturday after his life support machine was switched off around one week after he suffered a cardiac arrest.
The NHS worker's tragic death comes just days after he was accepted to follow his dream in joining the British army.
Heartbroken friends and family have rallied to raise funds for parents Gillian and Gordon to give their son the send off he deserves.
Kimberly Main, who began a Crowdfunding page for the family, said: "Gordy was a big part of a lot of people lives and never failed to brighten up everyone's day with his big cheesy smile and his top class banter.
"He was honestly the most caring, big hearted person you will ever meet!
"Only the best die young. He will be in our hearts forever."
The £1,000 target was more than doubled in three days with just over £2,000 raised so far.
His friends have also pleaded with Gers fans to honour Gordy with an applause during the 19th minute of the Spartak Moskva match on Thursday, October 25.
Fan group The Blue Sea of Ibrox wrote: "Sometimes we see the world as being a cruel place, another young lad taken from us.
"Someone who was loved by so many for his personality and will never be forgotten.
"Rest in peace Gordy."
