ONE of the country's most coveted music competitions is returning to Peebles.

And organisers of the Peebles Rotary Young Musician competition are wanting to hear from potential contestants.

Organised in conjunction with local charity Nomad Beat, the two-tier competition will take place on Saturday, November 24.

The winners of both the Junior - 11 and Under - and Senior - 12 to 18 - instrumental and vocal sections will then go on to represent Peebles Rotary Club at the District finals.

Lauren Goldthorpe, who is a volunteer at Nomad Beat, told us: "Musicians can be at any grade or any standard and we are looking for vocalists and instrumentalists of all ages.

"The Rotary Young Musician competition hasn't run in Peebles for a number of years and we hope this year's competition will be the first of many."
