DANCERS from the Fiona Henderson School of Dance are gearing up to perform their annual showcase – ‘Living Our Dream’.

More than 60 senior pupils have been hard at work rehearsing their routines and getting fitted for their costumes.

And now they are ready to take to the stage at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles, for two shows on Saturday, November 10.

The dancers will be performing specially choreographed routines to a range of genres including ballet, contemporary, modern, jazz, tap, Highland and Scottish National.

And the show will feature Irish dancing for the first time – this genre being a new subject offered by the Fiona Henderson School of Dance this year.

The performance will also include group dances; and tracks from Robbie Williams, Christina Perri, Tide Lines, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, Lady Gaga and Gregory Porter.

Music from film and musical theatre will also feature, including the beautiful and haunting theme from Schindler’s List, plus songs from 42nd Street and Disney’s ‘Hercules’.

Highland dancing, which has proved popular with Peebles audiences over the years, will return too – a routine choreographed to Jon Bon Jovi’s ‘Living on a Prayer’.

Fiona Henderson, the school principal and artistic director said: “Our senior school show really is the highlight of the school year for our senior pupils where they demonstrate all their dance skills and performance techniques.

“We always strive for our shows to be better each year and this year’s show is even more diverse and technically advanced than previous shows and we can’t wait to perform it.”

The FHSD shows are on at the Eastgate Theatre on Saturday, November 10, at 2.30pm and 7pm. Tickets (£12 for adults and £6 for children) are available to buy at the Eastgate Theatre or by calling 01721 725777.
