AN award winning flower arranger from Innerleithen is showing no signs of withering after collecting two trophies at the recent British Florist Association awards.

Emma McDonald started Stems more than six years ago after the birth of her daughter.

And she even used her own wedding towards the end of 2012 to showcase her florist talents.

Quickly the awards for the Peebles-based business started to arrive as well as bookings and orders.

Since 2012 Stems has provided the floral arrangements for over 300 weddings - and Emma has also collected numerous awards for floristry, customer service, business excellence and enterprise.

After her family moved to Innerleithen in 2015, Emma opened her first shop.

And the awards have continued to come - with Stems being named Florist Website of the Year at the British Florist Association industry awards in Birmingham last month.

Emma also collected the runners-up trophy for Florist Retail Shop of the Year during the same Hilton ceremony.

Emma told us: "When you work on your business day in, day out it’s sometimes hard to see what you’ve created because you’re so focused on your goals and the tasks in hand.

"Believe it or not, I'm not a massive fan of awards ceremonies however I decided to put Stems forward for Florist Website of the Year as a test to myself I guess.

"I wanted to see how my website did when being judged against others, some of which were professionally designed.

"For the BFA to place Stems second in Retail Shop of the Year was just the icing on the cake.

"The biggest thanks has to go to our amazing customers and followers who voted for Stems. Im so lucky to have the most lovely supporters behind me."
