THE Peebles community has been singing the praises of primary school pupils from Kingsland who were in fine tune this festive season.

The talented school choir are very much in demand, honouring a variety of engagements that had audiences toe-tapping and clapping.

Last Wednesday, the pupils warmed up their vocal cords and performed for the residents of Riverside House.

They then wrapped up in their winter woollies on Thursday evening to take centre stage singing Christmas classics at the Peebles Lights Switch-On, which was broadcast live on Radio Borders.

Following their radio debut, the choir were invited to the Peebles Silver Band Concert on Friday evening at the Burgh Hall where they performed musical numbers from The Greatest Showman and Matilda, and Frank Sinatra’s hit, High Hopes.

The youngsters ranging from P5 to P7, renowned for their energetic and quirky routines, are led by Caroline Belleville.

To finish off their Peebles singing tour, the choir sang for their home crowd at Kingsland on Monday evening.

The spirit of Christmas was brought to life during their candlelit service, which also played host to festive poems by pupils and the toot sweet sound of the recorder group.

Proud headteacher Jacqueline Wilson said: “The choir are great ambassadors for the school, singing at a range of different venues activities within the community.

“The children are very committed giving their own time to rehearse at lunch times and after school. The repertoire is always growing and they enjoy singing and moving to a range of different songs.

“I am very proud of the school choir, I would be happy to take them anywhere. Mrs Belleville is a tremendous choir leader.”
