A WEATHER warning has been issued for severe snow and blizzards in the Borders.
And the Met Office says locals can expect power cuts and travel disruption across the region this weekend.
Between 2-5cm of snow is forecast for lower ground.
Scottish Borders Council has also issued an alert.
Jim Fraser, Scottish Borders Council's emergency planning officer, said: "Heavy snow and blizzards may develop across Scotland and northern England with a risk of freezing rain in places.
"The snow could be heavy at times, especially over hills where blizzards may develop, and is likely to drift in strong winds.
"Across northern England and southern Scotland on Saturday night, 2-5cm of snow is likely at lower levels, whilst higher ground could see 10-20cm."
