A YOUNG West Linton actress has landed a part in an all-star musical concert.

Doone Jeary, 13, has been cast in the Glasgow Philharmonia Orchestra’s 5th Annual Movies to Musicals concert, which is being staged next month at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow.

The Peebles High pupil, 13, will tread the boards with West End and Broadway starts Kerry Ellis, John Owen Jones and Britain’s Got Talent’s Lucy Kay.

Doone will perform as part of the children’s cast and the programme includes a selection of musical numbers from hits such as Cats, Mary Poppins, Footloose and The Greatest Showman.

The cast will be accompanied on the night by the 50-piece Glasgow Philharmonia Orchestra.

Over 170 youngsters from across the country auditioned for a spot in the cast with only 33, including Doone, being selected.

And this isn’t Doone’s first foray into theatre - the youngster has already taken to the stage at Edinburgh’s Playhouse Theatre in a production of Oliver in 2016.

She currently attends Fierce Theatre School in Edinburgh as a part time student and says she is excited at the opportunity to appear in this show as musical theatre is her first love.

The show will take place on February 22 and tickets are available from the venue box office www.glasgowconcerthalls.com or 0141 353 800.
