A PEEBLES dance school has launched a competition in memory of a former pupil.

Organised by the Fiona Henderson School of Dance, the Evie Douglas choreography challenge, will give creative youngsters the chance to impress judges.

On March 24, dancers aged from 10 to 18 will have the opportunity to showcase an original dance to an expert panel at the Eastgate Theatre.

The panel will be assessing each for concept, choreographic structure and musical interpretation.

Evie Douglas was a talented former pupil and teacher at Fiona Henderson school of dance.

Established and supported by Evie’s mother, Freda Douglas, the choreography challenge aims to promote creativity in dance amongst the up-and-coming young people in the Scottish Borders.

The contest begins at 2.30pm with the winner being announced later that day along with the Fiona Henderson school of dance 2019/20 scholarship awards.

The winner of the choreography challenge will receive a glass trophy created by renowned local artist Bjorn Borseth.

Entry to watch the choreography challenge is free, however donations to the Evie Douglas inspiring life charity are welcome. And booking in advance is required. Budding Borders choreographers are invited to take part and details can be found at www.fionahendersondance.com/choreography.
