YOUNGSTERS have snapped up awards in the annual Rotary Club of Peebles Young Photographer competition.

The club's Jim Moore told us: "This year the competition attracted very high quality entries

from primary schools in Peebles and Broughton."

The winner of the junior section (up to 11 years old) was Catherine Donkers, from Halyrude Primary. Equal second were Heather Whelan, also of Halyrude, and Oliver Rand from Kingsland Primary.

The winner of the intermediate section (11 to 13 years) was Mairi Weir, of Kingsland. In second place was Marcel Boney, who is now at high school, and third place went to Esther Handyside, of Kingsland Primary.

The two winners are now in the frame for the next round, competing against entries from throughout the South of Scotland.

The Rotary Club's Jim Moore told us: "Once again we would like to thank our judge Stephen Scott who commented that the photographs this year were of a very high quality."
