FANCY winning an iconic Mini as well as supporting Doddie Weir's charity?

Look no further than the Borders Vintage Automobile Club’s charity raffle.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of the classic Mini and the BVAC plan to celebrate.

They are holding a special raffle for the chance to drive away a refurbished 1994 Mini Cooper, which has been generously donated by Emtelle of Hawick and Jedburgh.

And every penny raised will be donated to the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.

Doddie set up the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation after being diagnosed with motor neuron disease in a bid to raise awareness and money for research into the disease.

Colin Kirkpatrick, solutions director of Emtelle, said: “We are delighted to support such a fabulous fundraiser for the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation with the Borders Vintage Automobile Club.

“Supporting the BVAC who has an equally longstanding heritage in the Scottish Borders, and to be part of a local cause raising funds to aid research into Motor Neurone Disease is important to us.

“We wish the BVAC all the best in their fundraising efforts and a successful BVAC Classic Event at Thirlestane”.

Thirlestane Castle will hold the annual BVAC classic festival of motoring on June 2.

The Borders Vintage Automobile Club are now in their 47th year and their classic at Thirlestane is regarded as one of the best motoring events in the Borders.

And attracted more than 6,000 visitors last year.

Previously described by the Sunday Times as ‘The best classic car festival in Scotland’, this year's festival will be based around the 60th anniversary of the Mini.

In advance of the lucky winner being announced at the motoring festival in June, the Emtelle Mini Cooper will be going on a whistlestop tour around the Borders.

This will include high profile appearances at Kelso Races, Gala, Melrose and Hawick Sevens, Selkirk's Philiphaugh ground and at various retailers across the Borders and beyond.

Raffle tickets will be on sale at each of the events and are also available now from BVAC members at just £1 a ticket.
