FIVE young members of St Ronan’s Silver Band recently impressed judges to become double Scottish champions.

Competing at the annual finals of the Scottish Brass Band Association’s solo and ensemble contest in February.

The quintet won their age group for the third year in a row.

Callum Robb, Callum Anderson, Ally Norman, Thomas Brydon and Andrew Wilson then went on to compete in and win the open section.

Three of the boys also took part in the intermediate solo section.

Thomas Brydon and Ally Norman received silver awards with Callum Robb receiving a gold award and second place.

Overall, Callum came away with a haul of trophies after also achieving first place in both the Slow Melody and Open Contest, along with awards for Best Cornet player and Champion of Champions.
