REGULARS can once again raise a glass as their Peebles pub has been named the best in the Borders.

The already award-winning Bridge Inn received yet another accolade to add to its collection this week.

On Monday, the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) awarded the Bridge Inn ‘Pub of the Year’ for the Scottish Borders.

Rutherfords in Kelso took home second place, whilst the Plough in Leitholm was named third.

The Bridge Inn made the headlines in 2017 when CAMRA named it the best in the whole of Scotland and Northern Ireland.

And it was also awarded Edinburgh and South East Scotland’s Pub of the year.

Nikki Cassidy has been the general manager of the Bridge Inn for many years and is delighted to see her continued efforts recognised.

She told us: “I am very proud of the team for their continued commitment in serving great quality ale to the local community.

“It is great to be recognised again as we strive to keep the traditional pub alive.”

Campaign for Real Ale is a not for profit company run by thousands of volunteers with the aim of protecting the rights of pubs and drinkers.

Since they were founded in 1971, CAMRA has gone on to have 183,000 members across the world.

They will announce the overall Edinburgh and South East Scotland winner in Mid-March.
