DRIVERS are taking a gamble when exiting a busy junction onto the busiest road in Peebles.
Traffic emerging from Dalatho Street onto Edinburgh Road have a poor sightline of oncoming traffic due to parked cars.
And now calls are being made to extend the double yellow lines to prevent an accident happening.
Peebles Community Councillor Les Turnbull said: “There were complaints that cars were parked to close to the junction and drivers couldn’t see coming out onto Edinburgh Road.
"We talked about double yellow lines, which are already there but probably don’t go far enough to clear the junction and give a good view.
"I think what needs to be done is someone from the Council’s roads department needs to look at the junction to see if it’s feasible to extend them."
Meanwhile, the issue of a private ambulance parking on the corner of Dalatho Crescent onto Edinburgh Road appears to have been resolved.
Concerns were raised at last month’s community council meeting but members were told last week that there is no longer a problem.
