BROUGHTON Farmers have held their 54th annual dance recently, raising £16,000 for local cancer charities in the process.

This year’s donation was split between 11 cancer charities providing much-needed care, support and respite for cancer patients and their families.

The big-hearted group have now raised a staggering £262,282, with charities across the country benefitting from their generosity.

This year saw the group’s first donation to The Haven, in Forth, a centre opened in 2012 with the aim of providing care, complimentary therapies and information to individuals and families affected by a wide range of life-limiting illnesses.

Other Borders charities to benefit include Lavender Touch in Tweedbank and the McMillan centre at the BGH.

Broughton Farmers Dance Committee told The Peeblesshire News: “We would like to thank all those who have so generously donated to both the raffle and the auction over the years and also those who purchase raffle tickets and keenly bid at the auction.”
