FIVE adults and a 10-year-old child were rushed to hospital following a two-car crash on the A72 on Wednesday night.
Emergency service teams were called to the scene just east of Walkerburn at 8.20pm.
Four people had to be cut from the wreckage after the collision which involved a Volkswagen Golf and Ford Fiesta.
The adults were taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh while the child was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “At 8.20pm on Wednesday, officers responded to reports of a two car accident on the A72 east of Walkerburn. Six people taken to hospital.”
The road was closed for several hours.
A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service added: “We were alerted to a two vehicle road traffic collision at 8.25pm on Wednesday on the A72.
"Four people were severely trapped and teams were mobilised from Peebles and Innerleithen."
