Macdonald Cardrona Hotel in Peebles is teeing off the summer with a charity golf day to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

The hotel, golf and spa will welcome around 80 guests on July 18 for the friendly competition with hopes of raising £170,000 for the charity, to make a difference to people affected by cancer.

The day is part of the Golf for Life series, which will see 12 of the UK’s top golf courses hosting fundraising events for Cancer Research.

The course at Cardrona will be the only Scottish golf course taking part in the series. The first event took place last week in Cambridge, and the events will run over the summer until the end of September.

All fundraisers will get to experience the 18-hole championship golf-course, while also taking part in ‘nearest the pin’ and ‘longest drive’ competitions.

They are encouraged to get sponsorship from family and friends for every hole played to help drive away cancer.

Group Director of Golf and Leisure Keith Pickard said: “Macdonald Hotels & Resorts is extremely honoured to be taking part in the Golf for Life series. I’m glad we can offer the course for an extremely important cause.”
