THIS year's Scottish Mountain Bike Awards will be held in Innerleithen.

The annual event, which recognises the best riders, clubs, accommodation providers, product manufacturers and community groups, is now in its fourth year.

The ceremony, organised by Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland and the Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland, has twice taken place in Aviemore and once in Glasgow.

But next month it is heading to the Tweed Valley at Innerleithen's Memorial Hall.

Danny Cowe, from Mountain Bike Centre of Scotland, said: "We see these awards as another method of highlighting the great progress of Scottish companies across the globe while celebrating the fantastic scene in Scotland.

"We had a great response last year from Scottish businesses and we would urge any Scottish registered company with a mountain bike product or service to fill in an application form and take part in these awards."

The event will take place on Thursday, November 21 and there is still time to apply for an award.

Graeme McLean, head of Developing Mountain Biking in Scotland added: "Mountain biking brings increased participation – helping us to become a happier and healthier country, sport development – giving Scots the opportunity to succeed on the world stage and tourism – which brings economic benefit, often to some of our more remote areas.

“These awards will highlight and celebrate examples of great practice in these three areas which will help Scotland maintain our reputation as one of the leading countries in the world for mountain biking.”
