BIGGAR Day Out was a "great success" according to organisers.

As part of Biggar Little Festival, last weekend's Day Out had crowds dancing, balloon hats and plenty of stalls with local produce and crafts on sale.

Tracey McMaster, Biggar Little Festival Administrator told us: "I think it was a great success, and the Dance Mob was the highlight with well over 100 people from all ages dancing in the street!

"We had Miss Fantwistic entertaining the children with her amazing balloon creations, jumping for joy bouncy castle, the local fire service providing their fire engine for the children to enjoy, open stage and the Food & Craft Fair, Exhibitions and lots of local shops opening on the day!

"The Story Trail - Biggar Little Giants entertained lots of children down the burn braes."

But the fun doesn't stop there.

Although the festival comes to a close this Sunday (October 27), there's still this weekend to enjoy a jam-packed weekend of fun.

From today (October 25) to Sunday, you can visit the Artists' Open Trail. The trail features the works of over 20 different artists and are displayed either in their studios or in their homes.

Interspersed with this, there is a wide variety of events suitable for visitors of all ages.

Today you can visit the Dancing Light gallery or spend the evening listening to the Bob Dylan acoustic tribute act, tomorrow (October 26) you take part in some book binding or watch the Purves Puppet show.

And on the final day of the weekend - and the festival - you can see the Biggar Little Cinema's final screening of 'Stan and Ollie' and be blown away by the Eastfield and Harthill Flute Orchestra's performance.

The festival's Chairman, Jim Softley : "The origins of the festival go back to 2002 with the idea of promoting the town of Biggar for and on behalf of its residents and to encourage participation in : Music, Dance, Theatre, Literature and The Visual Arts.

"Over the years, the festival has evolved into one of the major events in the South Lanarkshire calendar, which attracts visitors from all over Scotland and other parts of the UK.

"The whole programme is a result of participation and involvement from individuals and individual groups within the area, with additional visiting performers and theatrical companies."
