THIS year's fireworks display in Peebles was a booming success with nearly 4000 people braving the cold in Victoria Park on Saturday night.

This year marked 35 years of firework displays by the Peebles and District Round Table.

Round Table chairman, Sean Byrne was delighted with the outcome and the total amount of money raised for a local charity.

He told us: "Thanks to the generous donations received, the Peebles and District Round Table raised an amount just in excess of £6000 from this event.

"This is the highest sum achieved to-date. This will enable us to make a substantial donation to Inspiring Life: Evie Douglas Memorial Fund."

The Inspiring Life charity was set up in memory of Peebles dancer, Evie Douglas, who took her own life in 2014 at the age of 21.
