BORDERS Young Creatives is bringing a creative murder mystery evening to Smailholm Village Hall this weekend, providing the perfect opportunity for a night out with family, friends, or colleagues.

‘The Middle of Summer Murder’, featuring Scotland’s leading Murder Mystery company, ‘Can You Catch the Killer’, is an exciting addition to the Borders Live Touring Programme organised by Borders Young Creatives.

Seated in groups, whilst enjoying a soup and sandwich supper, the audience watches events unfold.

Famous gardener, Artie Choke is hosting this year’s Annual Fruit, Flower, and Vegetable Competition, and as the reigning champion, he has a lot riding on it. But the yearly aubergine-growing contest is about to be interrupted by the shocking and untimely demise of the competition’s judge.

It’s up to the audience to piece together the clues, interrogate the suspects, and solve the murder.

At the end of the opening act a murder is discovered, after which each team interrogates each suspect to try to determine who the killer is, and how and why they did it.

Each team’s theories are then shared with the whole audience.

Then comes the final act where the identity of the killer is revealed - and the winning team announced.

Youth Arts Mentor at Live Borders, Ayliffe Rose, said: “Live events are really positive for rural communities; they get people out of their homes, socialising and having a fun evening.

"Borders Young Creatives is proud to be bringing ‘The Middle of Summer Murder’ to Smailholm. It promises to be a spooky evening to remember.

“As a charity, Live Borders aims to make communities healthier, happier and stronger; events like this bring the community together in a fun way and we hope everyone who comes along has a good time.”

The Middle of Summer Murders starts at 7pm on Saturday, November 23 at Smailholm Village Hall.

Tickets: £10 (Adult); £5 (Child under 16. Recommended for age 10+). Includes soup and sandwich supper. Tickets available on the door.
