AN appeal has been launched following an attempted phone snatch in Selkirk.

The incident happened at around 7.45pm yesterday (Tuesday) in Bannerfield Drive.

A woman was approached by a male from behind, who tried to grab her mobile from her hand.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "He was unsuccessful, but has made off towards Buccleuch Road via the bridge over the River Tweed.

"Nothing was taken and the female although shaken by the incident was unharmed.

"The suspect male is described as about 5’8 / 5’9 tall, slim build, wearing a black beanie hat, dark coloured top and dark tracksuit bottoms.
