FOUR of the five TSB branches in the Borders have been saved.

However, the company has announced its Jedburgh base will shut its doors in May next year.

As reported earlier this week, the region's five branches (Galashiels, Kelso, Peebles, Hawick and Jedburgh), were at risk from closure.

A total of 82 outlets are being closed across the UK, as part of a plan to save £100 million by 2022.

But today the firm has announced Gala, Peebles, Kelso and Hawick will be unaffected.

Robin Bulloch, customer banking director at TSB, said: "We have made the difficult decision to close 82 branches, today announcing the locations. We will fully support customers through this transition.

"We realise this is difficult news for our branch partners and will do everything to support those affected to offer voluntary redundancies and redeploy as many people as we can to other roles."
