PEEBLES High Students in S4-S6 will be taught from two locations in Galashiels from next week.

As confirmed earlier this week, Galashiels Academy's extension building will be used as a temporary site for Peebles students as well as Langlee Complex, Marigold Drive.

Students will be taught by Peebles High School staff in their current class groupings.

Face-to-face teaching will available from Monday, December 9 and will run until the Christmas break.

Learning will begin at 9.30am. Buses will transport students back to Peebles at 3.15pm, Monday to Thursday and at 1pm on Fridays. Details regarding the transportation of students are being finalised.

Due to the division of staff between teaching in Peebles and in Galashiels, some classes will not be taught by their original teachers but by subject specialists. For classes where this will happen, there has been a transfer of information between staff, which will ensure the smooth running of classes.

On Monday morning, a welcome assembly will be held to inform students about timetabling details.

Students who attend college classes on Tuesday and Thursdays will be able to attend these sessions as normal.

Break time will be between 11am and 11.30am, students at the Academy site will need cash to purchase snacks from the canteen as they operate a cash-only system.

Lunch break at the Academy will be from 1.15pm to 2.05pm, and will differ to Academy students' break to avoid any queuing and congestion of social areas. Free soup and sandwiches will be available.

Students will be free to use local Galashiels retailers for their lunch.

S5-S6 students will also have access to Galashiels public library and the Volunteer Hall during study periods.

All courses and levels will be provided to S4-S6 students.

Home learning will not be an option for students from Monday.

Christmas activities will continue as planned.

The Senior Christmas Dance was held on December 4 at Peebles Hydro.

The S3-S4 Christmas Dance will take place on Wednesday, December 18 at Peebles Hydro from 7pm to 9.30pm.

Sadly, the Christmas Concert has been cancelled due to a lack of capacity for rehearsals.

From Monday, parents and carers will be able to contact students on 01896 661461.
