A GENEROUS donation of £10,000 has doubled the reward for returning missing Border Terriers, Ruby and Beetle, bringing the total to £20,000.

As almost a year has passed since the two dogs disappeared, the stakes have been raised in the Bell family's search for their pets.

The £20,000 reward comes with a catch, it will only be available until the end of December in a bid to encourage more people to come forward.

And, if Ruby and Beetle are no longer together, the reward will be split in half - £10,000 per dog.

The Facebook group, Missing - Ruby and Beetle, which was created to help find the missing dogs, has swelled in its membership as it now has more than 14,000 members.

Through this group, Stacey Firth created a sticker campaign, which aims to spread the search for Ruby and Beetle to those not on social media.

Georgie Bell, Ruby and Beetle's owner said: "I have had my hopes raised so much and cruelly dashed that your emotions become suppressed.

"Ed asked me last night what I would like for Christmas, you already know that answer, so I asked him, what he would like, his reply, “To find Ruby and Beetle so I can have my wife back”.

"Having the most amazing group behind me certainly helps. You are all so supportive, we wouldn’t be where we are today without your support.

"I have been made aware that not everyone would have went to the lengths we have, but that is purely choice by myself and I would do it all again, I just want to find them."

The two dogs went missing on December 28, 2018 from the Jedburgh/Kelso area.
