DRIVERS are being warned that the A701 between Leadburn and Penicuik remains closed following an earlier accident.
A woman was taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary at around 8.30am following the single-vehicle crash.
Investigation work is taking place into the collision and the carriageway is closed in both directions, with diversions are in place.
The X62 bus service between Peebles and Edinburgh is still operating but following the diversions.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were requested at 8.34am to assist emergency service partners following reports of a road traffic collision involving one vehicle near Leadburn.
"Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene, where crews safely removed one female casualty from the vehicle.
"The casualty was thereafter passed into the care of Scottish Ambulance Service personnel, and transported to hospital."
