FOR the last 15 years, members of the Rotary Club for Innerleithen, Walkerburn and Traquair have served the RVS Friday group's volunteers and clients a Christmas lunch.

And for the last five years or so, this has included the cooking of the meal too.

It was last Friday (December 13) in the Friendship Hall of the Innerleithen Parish Church when Rotarians served up 25 hot Christmas lunches to their guests.

The menu began with a bowl of tomato soup, followed by a traditional turkey roast dinner, with all the trimmings - stuffing balls, roast potatoes and parsnips, carrots, sprouts and gravy.

Those present were then treated to a choice of two deserts, Christmas pudding served with custard or trifle with cream.

All served with a glass of festive sherry and the choice of a glass of red or white wine.

After their meal, Rotarians served teas and coffees and presented their guests with gifts provided by the Rotary Club.

A spokesperson for the Rotary Club said: "Judging by the comments, everyone thoroughly enjoyed a convivial lunch.

"Especially the RVS volunteers who were able to relax, with the opportunity to be served, rather than serve, the lunches!"
