SCHUBERT’S song cycle of poems by Wilhelm Müller, Die schöne Müllerin - The Lovely Maid of the Mill, will be the soundtrack for the return after four years of James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook to Music in Peebles.

Gilchrist, tenor, and Tilbrook, piano, are Britain’s leading exponents of Schubert’s Song Cycles.

Written when Schubert was only 26, Die schöne Müllerin, is considered on of his finest works.

Anna is one of Britain’s most exciting pianists, with a considerable reputation in song recitals and chamber music.

A prolific and versatile recitalist, James began singing as a chorister in the choir of New College, Oxford, and later as a choral scholar at King’s College, Cambridge.

In 2009 James and Anna embarked on a series of recordings for Orchid records of the Schubert Song Cycles.

Their disc of Die schöne Müllerin received great critical acclaim and was Editor’s Choice in Gramophone, November 2009.

For Schubert lovers this concert is not to be missed.

James Gilchrist and Anna Tilbrook will perform at the Eastgate Theatre during the afternoon of Sunday, January 12, from 2.30pm.
