A NEW series of child protection courses has been organised for 2020.

As part of its commitment to protecting local youngsters, the Scottish Borders Child Protection Committee has published its calendar of training courses for the next six months.

Michael Batty, chair of the Scottish Borders Child Protection Committee, told us: “The Scottish Borders Child Protection Committee is committed to providing regular child protection training, at all levels, to ensure that everyone understands that child protection is everyone’s responsibility, as well as being clear about how to respond to a child protection concern.”

There are a range of free courses on offer.

Essential Issues in Child Protection Practice is suitable for anyone who works with or comes into contact with children or parents as part of their work, voluntary or leisure activities.

Child Sexual Exploitation is open to all practitioners, volunteers and managers and it is strongly recommended that they undertake this training.

And Public Protection Briefings are available for all groups or organisations in the private, public and third sectors to raise awareness of public protection and the resources that are available to them.

The courses are delivered as part of the Committee’s responsibility towards the safety and protection of children and young people in the Borders.

All courses are free and are delivered by experienced professionals working within the child protection field.
