LAST Saturday night in Innerleithen definitely was not a drag.

Brought to Innerleithen Memorial Hall by On the Brinck Promotions and Hemelvaart Bier Café, the Drag Race Showcase event on Saturday, January 11 was a smash-hit with fans of Drag and the cult-classic TV series Rupaul's Drag Race.

The Borders event saw two of the top stars from the UK version of the American Drag series take to the stage, performing as individuals and as a duo, even performing a Pete Burns number together.

Baga Chipz and The Vivienne, who won the first series of Rupaul's Drag Race UK in November last year, not only served looks, but also held a meet and greet at the show.

Phil Walker from Hemelvaart told us: "It was amazing! Really brilliant show.

"It exceeded all of our expectations and we can’t wait for the next one."

Next month Drag Race royalty will return to Innerleithen.

The second place winner of the UK series, Divina De Campo will bring her one-of-a-kind act, and her four and a half octave vocal range to the Memorial Hall on Saturday, February 29.

Phil added: "We are really excited about our second RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Scottish Borders Party with Divina De Campo next month.

"We have seen Divina perform already, last November in Ayton and she absolutely brought the house down.

"She is the most genuine person you could hope to meet, extremely funny and insanely talented. She has been perfecting her craft for years and is a true star in every sense.

"On Drag Race UK she said that she could sing a four and a half octave range in five different languages whilst doing the splits. People should come along, if for no other reason, just to see if that is true."

And Lourde Godd will return to the stage too - Hemelvaart's regular Drag host will also perform as well as taking up her role of introducing the other performers on the night.

The audience will also be treated to a special live performance from Scottish X Factor 2016 finalist, Emily Middlemas, who has released new music under the name 'ili'.

Food and drink on the night won't be a problem either as a bar and street food vendors will be at hand to cater for hungry guests.

For a sickening night, tickets for the VIP meet and greet for Divina De Campo's night in Innerleithen are limited, and are selling fast.

Standing tickets for the night cost £15 and the VIP tickets are £25.
