A MELROSE man has admitted a careless driving charge at Jedburgh Sheriff Court.
Twenty two year old Aaron Kerr admitted crossing a double white line and overtaking when it was unsafe to do so.
The offence happened on the A68 between St Boswells and Jedburgh on a stretch of the road which has hidden dips.
Kerr's lawyer explained how there were a couple of moving vehicles in front of him but after overtaking they sped up a little taking him into the area of the double white lines which made it difficult to get back onto his side of the road.
He added it was a "misjudgement" on his client's behalf.
The court heard that Kerr required his licence as he is a plant driver on building sites.
Kerr of Harleyburn Drive, was initially charged with dangerous driving but pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of driving without due care and attention.
He was fined £500 and his licence endorsed with five penalty points.
