A DEVELOPMENT on the site of a former mill in Innerleithen has reached a milestone this week.

The company behind the Caerlee Mill development, Whiteburn, has officially opened its show home as well as a new sales area.

But around three-quarters of the 44 new homes have already been sold.

Whiteburn’s managing director Eve McCurrich told us: "We’re absolutely delighted to launch the sales area and show home at Caerlee Mill, which makes it even more convenient for prospective buyers to come along and meet the sales team.

"We’ve had phenomenal interest in the homes we are building, and we are looking forward to some new residents moving in this month – there’s a real sense of excitement as our vision for the former mill really takes a positive step forward.

“Our development is popular with local buyers, as well as those from further afield and establishing the sales area at the development allows buyers to experience the unique location of Caerlee Mill for themselves first-hand.

“We have also had a lot of local interest, particularly in our pink Whiteburn cow who’s now grazing over our sales area, which is udderly brilliant.”

With prices currently ranging from £147,000 for a two bedroom cottage flat, and from £195,000 for the three bedroom mid terrace Dow, buyers can now reserve their homes on site.

The sales area will launch this weekend and be open from 10.30am to 5pm on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as 1pm to 5pm on Mondays.

In conjunction with the launch of the new-build housing for sale, Whiteburn continues to explore economically-viable solutions for the B- listed Brodie’s Mill building, which dates back to 1778.
