SUNDAY’S Serenata Concert was a delight.
Liz Head and Caroline Adam delivered romantic Elgar in beautiful style.
The Strung Up quartet also gave an excellent performance of Mozart’s 4th String Quartet followed by a couple of toe-tapping tangos.
However, the undoubted highlight of the afternoon was Ellen Allan-Lord playing a set of Scottish tunes on the violin, with a lovely sound, good intonation, solid rhythm and real musical understanding.
She was accompanied on piano by her mum, Ruth Allan, who also joined her for a lively, and quite complicated duet.
Ellen is still only eight years old and working for her grade 2 exam but her maturity in performance showed much promise for the future.
