SELKIRK bid farewell to its community cop this week.
But Police Scotland have already appointed someone to follow in Conal McEwan's bootprints.
PC McEwan officially retired on Monday following several years as the community officer for the Royal Burgh.
He said: "I would like to thank the people of Selkirk for all the help they have given me and for making my life so much easier over the years.
"I would ask that they continue being the strong community that they are and continue pulling together to make Selkirk the place it is."
PC Steven Gibson will take over as the community officer this month.
Paying tribute to the outgoing officer, community council chair Alastair Pattullo said: "On behalf of the community council I would like to thank Conal for all he as done.
"He has certainly done us proud."
