MEMBERS of a Galashiels history group are inviting you to take a walk down memory lane from next month.
The latest Old Gala Club exhibition relives 1970.
From a year of long-hair, flares, Apollo 13 and the Beatles disbanding, the club members have brought together a fascinating exhibition of life in Galashiels.
The exhibition at Old Gala House, showcases photographs from their extensive collection along with toys, records, sports memorabilia, stamps, pre-decimal coins and even a vintage chemistry set.
Murray Dickson, president of the Old Gala Club, told us: “We always enjoy working in partnership with Live Borders on our annual exhibition at Old Gala House.
"This year we are rolling back 50 years to 1970 and, using photographs and objects from our archives and collections, we hope to give townsfolk and visitors a flavour of what life was like then.”
The Galashiels in the 70s exhibition will run from Saturday, March 28 through until October 31 in the Museum Room at Old Gala House.
Phoebe Stewart, assistant curator at Old Gala House said: “We’re delighted that The Old Gala Club is exhibiting with us for the season.
"It will be a fascinating trip back through the years to see what Galashiels was like."
