AN Innerleithen gallery is set to officially launch in the town next month, supporting the career dreams of its owner and the launch's featured artist.

Kate Hayes opened Solo Gallery, which sits at 51 High Street, Innerleithen, in December 2019, but the gallery's official launch will be held on Saturday, March 7 and will highlight the work of landscape artist, Louise Turnbull.

Kate moved to Galashiels in 2018 after working in business, and began plans for Solo Gallery in the summer of 2019.

She told us: "Moving to the Borders and opening a gallery has been a real change of pace for me, but the chance to show the work of new and established artists to potential buyers is a real joy.

"I'm delighted that Louise will be the featured artist at the gallery opening - her work is full of emotion."

Louise Turnbull swapped a career in learning and development for one in art in 2018, and moved to Walkerburn where she had her own studio space and access to the Tweed Valley for inspiration.

She said: "I'm loving my new life as a professional artist and I hope I can inspire a few more people to follow their dreams.

"I'm delighted that I'm able to show off my latest work at Solo Gallery and it's exciting to know that Kate has brought a great new gallery to my doorstep."

Solo Gallery will officially open on Saturday, March 7, between 2pm and 5pm.
