ONE of the world's leading Champagne producers is heading for Peeblesshire.

And diners are being invited to enjoy a sip or two with the man behind Joseph Perrier.

Benjamin Fourmon, managing director of family-owned vineyard, will entertain guests at Cringletie next month.

The gourmet black tie Champagne dinner is being held on Thursday, March 26.

A spokeswoman for Cringletie said: "Benjamin Fourmon will be in attendance at the dinner to formally present the champagnes and to tell the fascinating story of his family and its unique history as producers of world-famous Champagne.

"Martin Gamman, master of wines, will also be on hand to discuss the Champagne and answer any questions.

"The evening will begin at 7pm with a Champagne and canapé reception in the Maguire Lounge.

"A choice of brioche crumbed chicken lollipops, beetroot glazed cured salmon and crispy tomato cones filled with smoked goats cheese mousse, will be served, all of which will be accompanied by a classic Joseph Perrier ‘Cuvee Royale’ Brut.

"This will be followed by a sumptuous five-course dinner devised by head chef, Iain Gourlay, and matched with the exquisite Joseph Perrier Champagnes in the hotel’s Sutherland Restaurant."

During the evening, musical entertainment will be provided by one of Scotland’s most talented harpists, Charlotte Petersen.

Priced at £125 per person, early booking is advisable.
