PRIORSFORD pupils have come out on top at this year’s Tweeddale heat of the Rotary's national Primary School Quiz.

On Tuesday evening the Rotary Clubs of Innerleithen & Traquair and Peebles hosted the highly-competitive district heat.

Teams representing Eddleston, Kingsland, Priorsford, Halyrude, St Ronan’s and Walkerburn primaries all pulled on their thinking caps.

Priorsford, who became national champions last year, were facing a tough task to defend their regional crown as the Tweeddale heat attracted its biggest ever entry.

The quiz got off to a flying start with only a few points lost overall.

And as the competition progressed the two Priorsford teams battled out their knowledge as no clear leader emerged.

In the end it was Priorsford B team who took first place, scoring 90 out of a possible 96 points.

Priorsford A came up close behind, only two points down from their schoolmates and one of the Kingsland teams took third.

Priorsford B will progress to the national finals in Stirling this summer.
