ORGANISERS of the Borders Schools Cross Country Championships have announced that this year's event will be cancelled.
Gregor Nicholson from the championships told us: "On the advice of SBC and the head of Live Borders COVID 19 task force we have been asked to cancel the Borders Schools Cross Country Championships which had been rescheduled for Thursday, March 19 at Netherdale.
"Whilst this is disappointing given that we would have been below the 500 persons threshold and not caused any pressure to essential services, it is understandable in order to "limit the cross contamination of the virus between communities".
"Please note that although we had another stand-by date of March 26 set aside, this unfortunately is a cancellation not a postponement."
