MORE than £25 million has now been paid out to help Borders firms through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Scottish Borders Council (SBC) is managing a portion of the Scottish Government’s Coronavirus Business Support Fund.

And more than 2,200 applications have now been approved.

SBC chief executive Tracey Logan said: “The number of applications to the business support fund we have been receiving has slowed down over recent weeks, but we still estimate that almost 1,000 other businesses could be eligible for this support.

“I’d urge any business that is in need and is eligible to apply as soon as possible.

“A wide variety of business support is available and our experience is that very few local firms are not eligible for any of it, so please do check the Find Business Support website for all the funding support that is available right now.”

The business support fund provides one-off grants of £10,000 or £25,000.
