BUS passengers in the Borders will be able to travel to Edinburgh again from next week.

The X62 route from Melrose to Edinburgh, via Peebles, will reopen from June 22 on a limited Monday-Saturday service.

The earliest departure from Galashiels Interchange will be 6.20am, and the last return from Edinburgh will be 5.51pm.

A spokesperson for the service, owned by West Coast Motors, said: "All timetable information will shortly be available from our website and mobile app.

"We plan to announce increased journeys on key services over the coming days and will ensure we keep you fully updated on any amendments made to our bus service."

Customers are also being asked, where possible, to wear a face mask or covering while travelling on public transport.

The spokesperson added: "We are mindful not everyone can or are able to wear coverings and we are asking our drivers and customers not to judge those who do not wear face coverings.

"We shall continue to expect customers to wear face coverings whilst travelling on our buses in both Scotland and England."

And for passengers who have not hopped on a bus for more than three months, the company has made an informative video to highlight the new travelling measures in place.

One measure includes the ability to track the capacity of a running service online.

"Many people have not travelled on public transport for over three months," the spokesperson said. "During this time, we have implemented a number of new measures.

"Our customer information video is available from our website and highlights what customers should expect whilst travelling on our buses.

"We have updated our website (with app to follow shortly) with new technology which allows customers to see the busyness of their bus."
